What do the levels mean?
BUILDING BLOCKS (••): pre-requisite skills and understandings that students need to have in order to meet grade-level expectations (a.k.a. GOALS •••).
GOALS (•••): the “on grade level” expectations based directly on the 4th grade standards.
STRETCHING BEYOND (••••): “above grade level” expectations. The Stretching Beyond level provides you with assessment and independent practice options to stretch and challenge students who easily meet grade-level expectations.
Why should you level your math assessments?
With leveled math assessments, you can challenge your gifted students and plan for intervention with your growing learners. You have everything you need here for multiplication and division of whole numbers pre-assessments, post assessments, quizzes, tests, homework, review, worksheets for independent practice, and end of year testing preparation. These assessments are perfect for supporting a growth mindset classroom climate.
I whole-heartedly believe in the ability of these 4th grade multiplication and division of whole numbers assessments to help teachers identify students’ strengths and weaknesses in math, to diagnose areas to target, and to help teachers plan for differentiated math instruction (whether you use a math workshop model, small group teaching, have to incorporate a math textbook, or plan differentiated stations for your students).
