Partner Game:

In the Say, Listen, Match Card Game, students take turns listening for sound matches. They turn over two picture cards, say the words being depicted, and listen to see if the two vowel sounds match (both short a or both long a). This fun game is played much like the card game "Match" with the winner having the most matches at the end of the game.

Independent Activity:

In the Spin and Cover activity, students choose a picture board from the 4 versions, spin for a vowel sound or clue and cover images of words that match the vowel sound or hint they spun. Students then record whether the word they covered makes a short vowel sound or long vowel sound.
