✨ Words Their Way Word Searches

Words Their Way Discovery word searches are an engaging way for 3rd, 4th, or 5th grade students to recognize correct spellings and word patterns as they identify words on their WTW word list.

In my word study routine, students begin their individualized word study sequence with a "blind" word search as their first activity. As students search and find 2-3 words, they begin to see the pattern(s) for the word list emerging. This helps students recognize other words in the sort. The word searches do not contain an accompanying word list as the goal of this activity is for students to discover and seek out correctly spelled words.

This routine activity is meant to be an engaging, fun way for students to discover their word study words and sharpen their ability to recognize words that are spelled correctly (a major key to spelling improvement!).

Unlock the List is a spelling activity that transforms your typical phonics or spelling word sort printable into a fun, challenging puzzle that increases students' engagement and enhances their spelling skills.
