In Hit the Spot, students take turns drawing a picture or word card and covering the appropriate CVC word on the game board, trying to collect the most words, or targets, to win the game. All game board activities include words found in the word sort lists aligned with Words Their Way. The game play involves friendly competition and a recording sheet that makes it easy for the teacher to check that students understood the word families of their game.
