Put your students' love of pumpkins to work for a fall or Halloween writing project. While your students expand their vocabulary and learn new character traits and words to describe characters, they will have a blast developing a pumpkin character and writing creative stories with this PUMPKIN PERSONALITIES writing project!

To deeply understand their chosen personality word, students engage in vocabulary learning through synonym/antonym/Frayer Model and other graphic organizer work. After students study a trait, they write a creative story about their pumpkin who has that trait.

Take this project to the next level by having students decorate a real pumpkin (or cardstock pumpkin, included) to represent their pumpkin character in 3D. I've include suggestions and resources for a culminating writing celebration and follow up center/literacy station activities.
